We are thankful that 2020 has finally come to an end!  But we are also grateful for what the experiences of 2020 taught us.

Our SHEEX team faced some difficult obstacles in 2020 as a small woman-owned business with just 36 employees.  The most challenging part was trying to navigate through uncharted territory, not knowing which COVID shoe was going to drop on a week-to-week basis.  It quickly taught us that we had to stay very present, focusing on a week at a time in order to adapt to the uncertainty of the pandemic.

As we all found, it was not easy but we made it through and our employees are the real winners in 2020.

Like many business owners, we had no idea what remotely working from home would look like for our company. Susan and I are so extremely grateful for our employees and how everyone has come together during these difficult times and continued to focus on being the best we can be as a team.  Through extreme challenges, we all found a way to get stronger, something Susan and I can look back on and be very proud of and humbled by.

Through our athletic backgrounds, we spent our lifetime getting up after you got knocked down.  To have the opportunity to face the most stressful year of our careers and be able to communicate and coach our SHEEX team through the adversity is something that we are eternally thankful.

One of the highlights of the year of COVID, was getting to know our employees on a more personal level through a new tradition we started called “Thirsty Thursday.” Thirsty Thursday was a way for all of us to get together via Zoom to share stories and laugh.  Each employee has had the opportunity to host Thirsty Thursday and each week, we got to know each other better and better.  In a “normal” environment, we would never have been able to get the entire company together in a room, much less on a Zoom call, but the COVID environment made everyone stop their busy lives and appreciate much simpler things in life… people and relationships.

We have said this in so many of our daily meetings that SHEEX is the “little engine that could” and after this difficult year, we most certainly proved that we are just that.

We would also like to say how thankful we are for all the love and support of our SHEEX customer family who stood and supported a small woman-owned business in 2020 -- We wish we could tuck each one of you into your SHEEX every night.
