Congratulations are in order! The big day of your wedding is fast approaching. The bride and groom, and typically the entire wedding party, start planning to look and feel their best by that special day on the calendar. Honestly, you all are going to look great no matter what. Let us share some of our favorite tips and tricks for wedding wellness. From jump-starting your fitness routine and refreshing your diet to managing stresses and maximizing sleep, our guide will help you feel good from the proposal to the aisle.

Working on Your Fitness

If a new wedding fitness routine is something you want to accomplish, it definitely helps to start as early as possible. The early bird gets the worm, hits the goal, and feels great on the big day. Fitness instructor Peter Kraus provides a wedding fitness plan for those who are having a hard time figuring out where to start. His plans incorporate tips for cardio, weights, and stretching. In addition to setting up your workout plan, the bridal experts at The Knot recommend the following:

  • Create a visual diary to track your body's progress
  • Involve cardio and weight training equally
  • Make exercise a routine and ramp up eight weeks before the big day
  • Aim for balance and remember to exercise your entire body
  • Be positive and incorporate rewards into your routine

The Kitchen Overhaul

When you make commitments in the gym and in your pantry, you will start seeing results in no time. You may have heard that abs are made in the kitchen, and it is important to reward your body's hard work with healthy meals and nourishment. Women's Health recommends following a phased meal plan, progressing as you get closer to the wedding. When grocery shopping, you should focus on bringing home antioxidants, healthy fats, and proteins. Starting three months out, begin eating a diet rich in whole and natural foods. Cut down on alcohol and added sugar, and shop the perimeter of the grocery store to get fresh meats and produce. A month before your big day, fill up on on lean proteins, veggies, and healthy fats. Add antioxidants to your diet, such as strawberries, blueberries, honey, and almond milk, which have been known to make skin radiant. One Week Out: Keri Glassman, R.D., author and founder of Nutritious Life, says "this week focuses on foods that debloat, depuff, and cleanse before your big day."

Stress Management

A huge component of any wedding wellness plan is stress management. Planning the event can come with added pressure, such as budget, relatives, and disagreements. You want the day to be perfect, after all! When it comes to managing wedding stresses, there is nothing better than having your ducks in a row and setting aside time to relax, all the way up to the morning of the big day. Here are a few tips to stay calm, cool, and collected from the very beginning.

Weeks Before the Wedding:

  • Get organized. Take a notebook everywhere, start a wedding binder, and set up a separate email address to keep track of all things bridal.
  • Be present and enjoy each moment; hopefully, you're only doing this once!
  • Do not stress over perfection (we know, this is easier said than done).
  • Avoid over-scheduling yourself and focus on one thing at a time.
  • Remember, you come first!

On the Big Day:

  • Meditate. Take 10-15 minutes to focus on your breath, and relax those muscles.
  • Softening Scents like essential oils or candles can prove to relax the mind and body (try lavender, jasmine, chamomile, or basil).
  • Proclaim a mantra. Those few words you say to yourself when you're starting to feel the pressure can snap you out of it quickly.

Couples Sleeping Together

Time for Bed

Any wellness plan should always include plenty of time for sleep. After long hours of cake-tasting and venue-shopping with the future in-laws, sleeping should be the most cherished part at the end of your day. To ensure that you keep the bride- and groomzillas at rest, give these tips a try:

  • Amp up your bedding to the most revolutionary and comfortable experience with SHEEX® Performance Bedding. Invest in sheets, pillows, duvets, comforters, and even mattresses with our SLEEP•FIT® Technology to provide you with a deeper sleep.
  • Stressful wedding thoughts keeping you up at night? Remember your notebook and jot down any thoughts still swirling in your head and revisit in the morning.
  • Make your sleep a priority, and go to bed on schedule every single night. Your fiancé or fiancée just might want to snuggle up too!
